But after all that, when I double-clicked on Epson Scan, it appeared in the dock briefly and then disappeared. I also repaired permissions again before trying anything. So I copied those files onto a USB drive, noting their locations, and then transferred them to the same locations on my eMac and then restarted. I noticed that the CD had installed some files on my MacBook that were missing from my eMac. But then I used the CD to install on my MacBook Pro - and whaddya know - I could scan with no trouble at all! So I guess the Epson tech was right. I was doubtful of this, but I went ahead and ran DiskWarrior, repaired permissions, etc., and tried reinstalling the software - from the CD and fro the website - still no luck.
He told me it must be a problem with my Mac. I finally got an Epson tech on the phone, and he talked me through a bunch of "things to try," but none of them worked either. I emailed back and forth to Epson about this, and they sent me long lists of "uninstall" and "reinstall" instructions, which I followed, with no effect. I can print and copy without a problem, but when I try opening the Epson Scan program, the icon appears in the dock and then disappears. I don't have an answer for you - because I'm having the same problem myself! (In fact, it's kind of a relief to hear that someone else is having it!) I bought a new Epson all-in-one and installed the software from the CD onto my desktop eMac, following the instructions to the letter.
